It’s well into autumn, which means the days are getting darker and we’re closing in on the holidays! The days may still have the same amount of hours in them, but with so much to do and so little time, it probably feels like they are literally getting shorter! Do you have your fall organizing checklist ready? Which fall organization projects are most important to tackle? Here are our suggestions:

1. Get your fall accessories organized in your mudroom or hall closet. Taking a couple hours to organize your mudroom will save you a lot of time over the rest of the fall and winter! An organized mudroom means fewer messes! Invest in a few large plastic bins if you don’t already have them. They are perfect for storing boots, shoes, school and sports gear, and more.

2. Organize your craft room. Fall and winter are the perfect time of the year to catch up on your crafts! Get cozy in your sewing room and work on those special projects you didn’t get around to this summer. Don’t forget to make some gifts for the holidays!

3. Get a basket for slippers. Since you don’t have them out all year, they do tend to get out of control. A medium plastic bin also does the trick! Don’t leave them lying around; not only do they clutter up your floor, but they can also be a tripping hazard.

4. Corral your kindling. If you have a fireplace, you know how quickly kindling can get out of hand. A garden planter makes a perfect storage container for your kindling. It looks attractive and will keep your kindling neatly in place. A simple and beautiful storage solution for a seasonal need!

5. Start planning for the holidays early! It is never too early to begin planning for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the other winter holidays. Get your gift-wrapping station ready and start organizing your kitchen so that you will have an easier time when it comes time to prepare your Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts!

6. Organize your time! Making checklists and calendars may not sound all that thrilling, but it is one of the single best fall organization tips we can give you. When you organize your time, especially during the holiday season, you can get around to a lot more projects and accomplish so much more!

Fall and winter can be a lot of fun, but they can also feel rushed and hectic, and it can be easy to get stressed out and worry that you will not be able to get everything done. And you know what? You probably won’t. You will have to pick and choose which fall organization projects are most important to you. Make a list of priorities and figure out which tasks are most essential. Tackle those chores first, and then if you have time, take on the rest. Even if you don’t get it all done, take pride in what you have accomplished, and enjoy the fall and winter holidays!
