We’re getting right into the perfect time of year to go camping. It’s starting to warm up during the daytime and at night, but it still isn’t blazing hot yet in many places. Of course, if you have kids, waiting for summer might be just the thing to do. Either way, this is the time of year to either hit the trails or plan your next trip out into the wild.

One supply you are going to want to be sure to bring along with you on your camping expedition is clear plastic bins. Plastic containers for outdoor gear are some of the most versatile supplies you can purchase, and have a wide array of uses when you are camping. They are great for all of the following:

• Food storage. Plastic bins for food are ideal for holding trail mix, jerky, canned foods, dehydrated foods, and more. Plastic food storage keeps your food as fresh as possible for as long as possible. This is the key to being able to stay out longer before you have to return to civilization for fresh supplies.

• Outdoor equipment and toys. Whether you are packing climbing supplies to scale a cliff or balls and Frisbees for your kids, plastic storage containers are an optimum solution. Large bins and small are ideal for all of your needs.

• Blankets and clothing. Blankets and clothes are two things you definitely want to keep dry and protected from the elements. In a sealable plastic bin, they will stay that way even if the weather gets stormy, and will be ready for you when you need them.

• Electronics. What are you going to do with your GPS, your camera, your smartphone, your walkie-talkies, and your other electronic equipment when you are not actively using it? Some of these supplies may be water resistant, but few of them are likely to be genuinely waterproof. Store them all in a plastic bin when you are not using them so that you can keep them in working condition. All of these supplies are expensive to replace, and some of them may also be vital to your safety while you are out in the wilderness.

• First aid supplies. A first aid kit is something you should always take with you when you are camping, and it is also a smart supply to have in your car at all times. Keep it in a clear bin so that you can quickly find it and immediately see its contents. When you have an emergency, the last thing you want to be doing is sorting through a lot of opaque bins for the right one.

For all of these camping supplies, plastic bins offer the best protection. Sealed plastic bins keep moisture out, preventing damage to valuable medical supplies, clothing, blankets, food, electronics, and more. When you are out in the wild, every supply you have is important, even vital. Plastic storage containers can keep your camping trip convenient, fun, and safe for the whole family.
