Trying to figure out a better way to store your pet food? Right now, maybe you just keep it inside the original bags. Or maybe you have some kind of plastic, glass or metal dog food storage solutions. Regardless, if you haven’t already, you may want to consider stackable pet food storage bins.

What are some of the advantages of stackable pet food bins?

• They conserve space. The number one benefit of stackable pet food containers is that they save space. Many people have their pet food stations squeezed into their kitchens, mudrooms, or entryways. Oftentimes that space is needed for other purposes. With stackable plastic containers, you may very well be able to free up a great deal of horizontal space.

• They make it easy to keep different types of pet food separate. If you have more than one pet, you probably have more than one type of pet food. Stackable food bins make it easy to store each type separately for each animal. Usually you will also have several types of feed and/or treats for a single pet as well. Once again, stackable plastic bins offer you a way to stay organized.

• They make it easy to reach pet food. Another clear advantage of stacking bins is that they make it easy to reach whatever you need. This is why they are popular for storing all kinds of supplies, and pet food is no exception. The fact that you can stack them up vertically only adds to this advantage, since you can keep the foods you access the most at a height where it is effortless to reach in with a food scoop.

There are a couple of things to consider if you decide to use stackable plastic bins for pet food. The first is the type of plastic. It is extremely important to only choose food grade plastic for your pet food bins. Otherwise the plastic can leach chemicals into the food, which is bad for your pets’ health.

The other consideration is how or whether the bins close. You can actually purchase specialized bins for pet food which have lids that open and close. Just open the lid, reach in with the scoop, and let the lid fall closed behind you.

You can go with general purpose stacking bins too however if you prefer—just remember that since these bins are always open, you will need to keep the food in the bags. This still has an advantage since it makes it possible to vertically stack the bags. Getting the food is easy too; you just open the bag, reach in with the scoop, grab what you need, and then clip the bag closed when you are done. Keep in mind this option is best if you do not have any sort of pests to deal with and are not worried about leaving the bags exposed.

There are many approaches you can take to storing pet food, but few are going to beat stackable plastic containers for ease-of-use, space conservation and organizational versatility!
