If one of your projects for is organizing your attic, you are going to want to review some popular attic storage ideas so that you can get going in the right direction. • Hangars or hooks for your overhead storage. A pole isn’t the only attic storage solution you can mount overhead. You can also add hooks or rafter hangars. These are great for getting more space freed up on your floor. You may also be able to use hooks to mount shelving. Assuming you have standard trusses though, there may be an even easier shelving solution (see the next bullet point).

• Attic truss shelves. These shelving units are made just for attic trusses, and can free up a ton of space! These are especially helpful if you do not have proper flooring, and you need to keep most of your stuff stored above the floor level.

• Plywood flooring. If you do not have a proper floor on your attic (just the beams), consider adding plywood flooring so that you do have more space to store heavier items and walk safely and comfortably.

• Attic storage containers. What should you replace your cardboard boxes with? The best attic storage containers are plastic storage boxes. These are stronger and will hold up better, and they will provide a layer of protection from mold, dust and climate damage. Attics undergo huge temperature swings between day and night and summer and winter. Those temperature swings can damage your possessions if you do not provide them with proper protection. The key there is to buy quality storage containers!

Attics can become cluttered environments fast, and they are uncomfortable places to work, which can tempt you into ignoring yours. With the right supplies though, like poles you can mount, hangars and hooks, attic truss shelves, plywood flooring, and attic storage containers, you can get that clutter under control and free up a lot of room. Your possessions will stay in much better condition for longer, and you will have a much easier time finding what you need.
