• Grab attention when buyers enter. It’s important to have at least one standout display near the entrance to your store. Studies have shown that buyers tend to look left first, not right, so either position the display directly in front of the buyer entering, or slightly to the left. This makes buyers slow down and arouses their curiosity about your other displays. You should also put an exciting display to the right, since buyers also tend to walk right first and move about a store in a counterclockwise fashion, despite their initial interest being to the left.

• Increase visibility near the door and windows. You want buyers to see as much as possible when they enter your store, so you will want to use chrome or black wire shelving units and other displays which do not block the shopper’s view much, and allow them to see past the shelves directly in front of them.
