Another way you could do color coding in your retail stockroom is to select bin colors based on urgency. Perhaps some items only need to be restocked once in a while. These items could be stored in blue bins on your retail storage shelves. Maybe there are other items you need to restock on a regular basis, but not every week. These could be put in yellow retail storage bins. And then perhaps there are items you want to be able to find right away since you need to get them out on the floor every few days. You could put these in red bins. That way all you have to do is go to the part of your stockroom which is color coded in correspondence to the demand for the item.

Plastic storage containers can be useful around the home too. Say you enjoy crafting. Maybe you make jewelry, something which requires you to organize a lot of supplies. A color-coded system of craft storage containers is a great way to remember where everything is. Perhaps you have a set of beads in every color. You could color code small plastic boxes and put the corresponding beads into those boxes. There are carts and stands designed specifically for crafting, but if you don’t have room for one, then color-coded containers are just another possible solution.

Organizing a business or a hobby can be a challenge, but being able to maintain order can free up time and even save money. It keeps you from losing things you need and helps you to find them when you need them, not waste time searching. Many industries can benefit from an organizational scheme which incorporates color coding, and it’s great for your home too.
