First you’ll need to decide on a logical location for your recycling center. There are a couple of factors to consider. Figure out how much space your system will take up. How much waste do you generate? What size of bins for recycling will you need? Will you need different sizes for different materials? The most reasonable place to put your recycling bins is probably next to your trash cans. People in your home, office, or school tend to walk automatically over to the trash can if that’s what they’re used to using, so you’re more likely to get compliance from others if you place the recycling bins next to the trash cans. You may need to relocate the trash can as well if you don’t have enough space where it’s currently standing. Kitchens, laundry rooms, garages, and hallways are good spots in the house. Recycling bins for schools and offices should go near doorways, inventory rooms, and office hubs.
