Have you ever thought about downsizing from a large suburban home to a tiny house? Tiny houses are a major trend right now, but you may be wondering if it is worth it looking for ways to organize a small space to live with less. In actuality, there are a lot of potential upsides to downsizing. In Part 1, I went over the following:

1. You will save money (if you do it right).
2. You can take that money you save and use it for other purposes.
3. You may be able to make your life more mobile.

Let’s look at a few more.

4. You will finally get rid of your clutter.
Do you ever look through rooms of suburban clutter and ask yourself, “Wow, why do I even need all this stuff?” But however badly you want to tackle the mess, you cannot bring yourself to declutter your home and mind. After all, it is a big job.

Well, if you downsize to a tiny house, you will not have to deal with that clutter much longer. You will have to deal with it all at once. You will need to figure out what to thrift, what to put in storage, and what to keep in your tiny house. But after that, the problem will largely be solved. Because you will get used to living in a small space, you will be less tempted to accumulate clutter in the future.

5. You may be able to enjoy living in a more functional space.
One cool thing about tiny houses is that they are designed with functionality in mind. Because there is so little space, they are optimized for streamlined, fluid, comfortable day-to-day living. The same cannot be said on nearly the same level for a large suburban dwelling.

6. You can go further with customization.
With a big house, it is easy to be bowled over by the sheer amount of work involved with cleaning, organizing and decorating your house. With a tiny house, you get to focus all your energy on a small space. That means that you can potentially go a lot further toward perfecting it and expressing your personality through it.

7. You have less to clean and organize.
While looking up tips for organizing a small house, you may be daunted by the challenge of tiny house living organization, but look at it this way—once you get some clever solutions figured out, on an ongoing basis, you will have so much less to do. That means a more organized space and more time to enjoy it.

8. You will reduce your ecological footprint.
Finally, one more benefit of tiny house living goes beyond personal advantages. It takes less energy to power and heat a tiny house than a big house, so that reduces your ecological footprint and protects the environment.

So what are you waiting for? Maybe the time is right for you to downsize after all. Once you do, be sure to read our tiny house organizing series to learn some tips and tricks for keeping your tiny home clutter-free!
